Rental Information

1. Hire Rate

Hire rates quoted include:

  • VAT (charge at the prevailing rate)
  • Unlimited miles
  • UK standard vehicle insurance*
  • UK standard equipment and breakdown

    • * Insurance loading. In some cases, North East VW Camper Hire will incur additional charges if the driver to be insured has a traffic conviction, is using a non-UK driving licence or is in an occupation which is deemed high risk. These charges will be passed on to the driver.

    2. Insurance

    Standard Excess The above rate includes a standard excess of GB £500.00. In the event of any damage to either the vehicle or third party property, the hirer will be liable for the first GB £500.00. The hirer will also be fully liable for replacement or repair of the windscreen or tyre damage.

    3. Security Deposit

    There is a refundable GB £500.00 Security Deposit payable by cash or traveller's cheque. This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date and time, in the same condition as it was let out to you, with the toilet empty, the interior clean including all cooking appliances and the tank full of fuel.

    4. European Travel

    We regret we are no longer hiring our campers for European Travel.

    5. Ireland Travel

    Travel into Ireland is classed as European Travel by the AA and our insurance company, so regrettably our campers cannot travel into Ireland.

    6. Extras

    Extra Bedding Sleeping bags/pillow/towel - £20.00 per person (per rental) available to those renting from overseas.

    7. Minimum Hire

    This range from 3 to 7 nights depending on the season. Please check with North East VW Camper Hire at time of booking.

    8. Drivers

    • Age limits: 25 to 70 years (apologies to anyone outside this age bracket - insurance policies dictate).
    • Driver must have held a valid license for more than two years.
    • Details of addition drivers required.
    • Production of valid standard driver's licence required from all drivers at start of hire.
    • Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (eg parking tickets, London congestion charges etc) which are incurred during the period of hire.
    • Maximum of two drivers per rental.
    • Drivers must provide three separate forms of identification ie credit card, passport (with proof of address).

    9. Working Hours

    Call anytime.

    10. One Way Rental

    Not permitted.

    11. Payment

    Availability is on a request and confirm basis of the time of reservation. A reservation is only binding after it has been confirmed by North East VW Camper Hire and a non-returnable deposit has been received. Settlement of the remaining balance will be due six weeks prior to departure. Booking deposits are not transferable to alternative hire dates.

    Payment is by credit card (Visa, Amex or MasterCard), debit cards or cheques in Pound Sterling.

    For late bookings (less than six weeks before departure) the full rental price is payable on booking. Vehicles will not be released without full payment being completed. Cheques will not be accepted for late bookings (less than two weeks prior to departure).

    12. Credit Cards

    We accept:

    • Visa
    • Visa-Electron
    • MasterCard
    • Maestro
    • Solo
    • Via Pay Pal

    13. Cancellation Charges

    • More than six weeks before rental start date: booking deposit.
    • Within six weeks of rental start date: 100% of total hire charge payable.

    In the event of cancellations, booking deposits are not transferable to alternative hire dates

    Please ensure you have your own holiday insurance in place to cover the costs if for any reason you have to cancel you reservation.

    14. Collection and Return

    Collection - please allow one hour for the handover at the depot to:

    • Complete the documentation.
    • To demonstrate your vehicle to you.
    • Transfer you luggage to the camper.

    Please allow the same on your return.

    Return

    • The vehicle must be returned on the date and at/or before the time stated on the Rental Agreement.
    • Vehicles must be returned clean and in the same condition as they leave the depot.

    Otherwise a charge will be made.

    Late Returns

    If you will be late returning, the rental company must be advised immediately. Failure to advise may result in prosecution for driving whilst uninsured. An additional charge of £50 per hour will be payable for all late returns.
